What is a Chemical Peel?

A Chemical Peel is a medium-depth chemical peel that penetrates your top layer of skin, called the epidermis, reaching into the dermis underneath.  It works by exfoliating your skin and stimulating the production of new collagen, elastin, and proteins.  The procedure is used to treat signs of aging, improve skin texture, and correct pigmentary issues.

What skin concerns does a Chemical Peel treat?

Fine lines and wrinkles, Sun spots, Keratosis Pilaris, Acne, Post-inflammatory pigmentation, pore reduction, hyperpigmentation, dry, rough skin, mild rosacea.

Do Chemical Peels hurt? What are the side effects?

NO, chemical peels do not hurt.  You will feel a slight tingling of the skin when the peel is applied, but this tingling sensation will go away usually within a minute.  Very rarely, people may complain of swelling, inflammation, redness, or discoloration.  If you have a darker skin type, ask your provider if you would benefit from pre-treating your skin for 4 weeks to prevent hyperpigmentation.

How do Chemical Peels work?

When you arrive the practitioner will cleans your face to remove dirt and oil.  The Chemical Peel will then be applied in a few layers.  You may feel a slight tingling sensation that lasts less than one minute.  When you leave the office, your face will have a slight glow, or “tanning” of the face.  This peel will be left on for approximately 4-6 hours.  Then, at home you will wash off the peel and apply specific skin care products given to you by the practitioner to aide in the peeling process.  People usually start peeling in 3 days and the peeling is complete by day 5.

How often can I get a Chemical Peel?

Best results are seen when getting a peel once a month to allow for skin turn over. Some peels can be done every other week, while others waiting up to 6-8 weeks may be better. Ask your practitioner what is right for you.

What do Chemical Peels cost?

VI Peels cost between $250-$350 depending on which peel you are doing.  Buying a package of Chemical Peels will help to lower the cost as well as enhance the results.  Ask which treatment is right for you during your Beauty Plan Consultation.
