What is microneedling?

Also known as collagen induction therapy, it is a cosmetic procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny sterile medical grade needles to stimulate the skin to make more of its own collagen and elastin.
By combining it with radiofrequency, it becomes a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that enhances the collagen inducing effects of the micro-needling with the simultaneous delivery of the RF energy, or heat, to improve skin texture, tone, fine lines, laxity, and scarring.

Why add radiofrequency to the microneedling?

Sagging skin is a common problem that stems from genetics and sun damage. Radiofrequency energy gently heats the outer layer of your skin, leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. This energy also results in new collagen production. Several weeks after treatment, patients experience tighter skin. It is considered far more effective than over-the-counter solutions for skin rejuvenation.

Pros of RF microneedling

Besides sagging skin, treatments can address concerns like textured skin due to acne scars and hyperpigmentation. Your treatment will be personalized to your concerns based on your individual needs. RF microneedling is also suitable for most skin types.

Patients don’t have to turn to plastic surgery to treat their skin issues. This means it requires no incisions and far less recovery than traditional facelift surgery. You can also expect noticeable improvements in a shorter amount of time.

Cons of RF microneedling

While RF microneedling side effects are minimal, patients should still understand what to expect. This includes some temporary redness and discomfort. It is important to give us your full health history so we can make sure you are a safe candidate for treatment.
Even though RF micro-needling treatment does produce noticeable results, they may not be as dramatic as plastic surgery. Questions can be addressed during your beauty consultation. Schedule your beauty consultation now.

Is it painful?

Micro-needling uses microscopic needles on a robotic arm to get precise and minimally painful injection sites.  Before your treatment, a thin layer of numbing medicine will be applied to your skin to help minimize the feeling of the tiny needles during the treatment time.

How long is down-time after the procedure?

Down-time is minimal.  The area that had been treated may be slightly red for 24-48 hours. When using the VirtueRF microneedling by Cartessa at Ericsson Aesthetics, you will be treated to a micro-current peptide mask to soothe the skin and reduce the redness caused by the treatment.

Is there anything special I need to do?

If using a daily retinoic acid, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid, it is recommended that you stop using for 3 days prior and for 3-5 days post procedure. Come to your appointment hydrated and with a clean face. Please ask your provider about any medications you might be taking and if they need to be stopped prior to the procedure.

How often can I do this procedure?

Microneedling can be done every month.  It is recommended to have 3 monthly treatments to get full benefits of collagen stimulation.  Then maintain the youthful glow by continuing treatments every 6-12 months.
